Thousands of spectators watched the “Higalas Parade of Icons”
on August 27, 2013. It is the day before the Feast of Saint Augustine on
August 28, 2013. The parade was participated by different sectors of society
such as business, school, government, military and others. Except for the
winners of the Cagayan de Oro beauty pageant who were paraded on float, the other traditional
floats were replaced by icons of personalities who contributed to the foundation
and development of Cagayan de Oro as a city. The parade started at about 7 o’clock in the morning at the Pelaez Circle or rotunda, passed through the city’s main thoroughfares
and ended at the Lim ket kai Center at about 12 o’clock noon.
It must have been a great festival to watch.
