Former Basketball Players from the Philippines Basketball
Association visited Cagayan de Oro City for a goodwill game at Xavier
University Gym. The game was held on 17 August 2013 and started at about 6 p.m.
The lineup of PBA legends from Manila included former Philippine national
basketball team stalwarts such as the 7’2” E.J. Feihl, Jerry CodiƱera, Bal
David, Marlou Aquino, Kenneth Duremdes, Rey Evangelista, Noli locsin, Bong Hawkins and Rodney Santos. Congressman Klarex
Uy of the first district of the City tossed the ball for the opening of the
game.
The PBA legends played as two teams competing against each
other. They were beefed up with local basketball players that included Mayor
Oscar Moreno and his son. One team of the PBA legends and their local
supporting players wore blue uniforms while the other team had white.
Despite their inactivity from the professional basketball
league, the legends still showed the brilliance that made them the darling of
the basketball fans throughout the country for many years. They wowed the
spectators with their skills in passing and dribbling the ball and in
rebounding, laying up, dunking the ball through the ring and in shooting three
points.
The two teams were evenly matched so that the score was seesawing
in favor of either team in the course of the game. The game ended with a score
of 121 to 119 in favor of the blue team.
The PBA Legends Basketball Game is one of the core
activities of the Kagay-an Festival 2013.
